Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. Our school takes part in the Premier's Debtating Challenge where four of our senior students debate against five other local schools.
Every child at Mathoura PS is also provided with the opportunity to host a morning assembly and sing the National Anthem.
Two students also host the town's local Anzac Day Service each year.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Every second year, we have a whole school production. This year, our theme was 'Music Through the Decades' where we went back in time to relive the music from each era.
Excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Incursions
Incursions provide our students with engaging experiences right in the classroom. By connecting with specialists and participating in interesting activities onsite, students build confidence, develop new skills, and discover meaningful links between what they learn and the world around them.
Cultural Activities
By participating in cultural activities, students develop a deeper appreciation of diverse backgrounds, foster inclusivity, and help build a stronger, more connected school community.
High Quality Transition Programs
Our transition programs are highly successful in developing school readiness, fostering faamiliarity with school staff, and building essential learning skills to ensure a smooth transition into Kindergarten, between grade levels, and into high school.
